| Natural Skin Care
Human skin is an incredible feat of nature. Not
only does it protect our organs from the elements and help to regulate body
temperature, but it's our first barrier from infection, as well. Actually, the
skin is considered an organ in itself -- the
body's largest, in fact.
Skin care and protection of skin should be an
essential part of your health for fitness & beauty regime.
A daily
skin care regimen goes a long way in keeping
one’s
skin healthy and beautiful. You have to give
your
skin some time and repeat the process every
day, no matter what. If you want your skin to look attractive and healthy there
are several rules you must follow. The most important is cleansing with natural
and reviving substances, for a
clean skin is bound to look healthier. Since
constant washing removes most natural oils and moisture, and even the acid
mantle covering, you must consciously replace these oils, moisture and acid.
Your diet should be high in proteins, which can be found in lean meat, fish, and
poultry as well as in nuts, beans, milk and eggs. Raw vegetables and fruit of
all kinds are essential. Several glasses of water ( this is much underestimated
in it's importance) each day are essential to flush the system clear of toxins.
Our
skin’s functions are too many to go through
here in detail, however it protects our ‘insides’ from the external environment,
acting both as a barrier and a filter between ‘outside’ and ‘inside’ our bodies.
The skin helps in regulating our body’s temperature, like when we have a fever
or we’re physically working hard, we tend to sweat, which is the body’s way to
lower the temperature. The
skin also protects us from harmful substances
entering our body, and it eliminates many toxins introduced through ingestion or
even via the skin itself. This takes workload off our Liver and Kidneys to
filter out by-products from our body’s metabolism. The skin also breathes and
plays a major role in our immune system.
Generally skin categorize into one of three different types. Read the following
categories to best determine the skin you are in
Sensitive, Fragile or
Dry Skin
Your
skin may fit into this category because of
light coloring with little natural sun protection. It also may have skin
sensitivies or allergies. Certain medications can push you into this category
also. Gentle products, no harsh acids or alcohol and added moisture are needed.
Balanced or
Normal Skin
Not too oily, not to dry and no extreme challenges. Primary goal is to keep
healthy condition and promote protection and preventative lifestyle.
Acne Prone or
Oily Skin
Usually thicker skin with less wrinkling. Excess oil may need control. Acne
lesions may need treatment
The basic steps of
skin care are: Cleanse, Exfoliate, Protect. The
key here is to find the product type that works best for your skin type.
Choosing the wrong products can be worse than doing nothing at all, and with the
myriad of choices on the market, confusion can reign.
Natural
skin care products are the only way to approach
your
skin care regime. Natural products, not just
natural ingredients that have been added to an otherwise non-natural base, are a
great way to take a proactive step towards promoting and maintaining
healthy skin. In addition to taking a proactive
skin care approach you should also consider doing the same with your diet. Foods
that can benefit the
skin will also benefit other parts of your body
and promote healthy body tissues. Eating foods that have not been highly
processed
Good skin care — such as avoiding the sun,
washing your skin gently and applying moisturizer regularly — can help delay the
natural aging process and prevent many
skin problems. These simple
skin-care habits will help you protect your
skin to keep it healthy and glowing for years to come.
